Great news! Our supplies came in
today! I had a pretty solid day myself. I had a great conversation with Mr. Bob
and Mrs. Mildred.
In my perspective, I had a very
moving morning. Others in my group would say it was uneventful and although not
much happened it was very productive. I won’t lie, I didn’t do much, but what I
did do was talk to the folks that would soon own the deck and ramp we are
building and I’m glad I did. These couples have been married for 32 years, next
week going to be 33. Even though they live in a trailer home, they’re happy and
thankful for what they have. The wife, Mildred, has one leg, and the one leg
she has is bandaged and bleeding. I don’t know their story. I’ll admit I am
curious but it is Mildred’s story to tell. Think about it, we judge everyone on
their appearances when we don’t know their tale.
When I first saw Mildred and Bob I
thought they were just this weird and awkward couple living by themselves in a
trailer home. But today, I really got to know them. Bob is a very friendly
neighbor who has a great sense of humor and loves to give away what he has
while Mildred is this amazing and friendly woman.
Mildred taught me a very
interesting quote, “Never go to bed mad.” She claims that is the key that is
keeping her marriage going. Without her husband, Bob, she doesn’t know where
she would be. Although I’ve gone to bed mad plenty of times, I second that.
Don’t forget, someday the next two
week is Emma’s birthday. This is a reminder for my mother to get her a gift for
being a great pastor, counselor, and friend. Although she is turning 29 remind
her that she doesn’t look a day over 21.
