On the Barnesville worksite today was workday number 3. We
went to Donna’s house to try to finish up the handicap ramp. First, we measured
wood to cut the beams for the railing on the ramp. We also nailed in the last
beam on the ramp. We all signed our names on the board underneath the railing,
so we can all be apart of leaving our mark on the deck and ramp. We continued
washing and placing the bricks to line the ramp that we had previously dug out
from underneath their old deck that was falling apart. After the deck and
railing were complete, we rearranged the first beam on the ramp to make it
level with their original porch. Today Bekah came back to our worksite and
played church hymns with Donna’s son, Scott. We were also able to talk more
with Donna and Scott and learn about their life. After we packed up and said
goodbye, the daughter-in-law Rachel came outside and the reaction on her,
Scott, and Donna’s faces to the completed deck and ramp was the best part of
the day.
