I spent a lot of our second day in
New Jersey thinking about things that we talked about on Monday. We discussed the concept of hope, and what it
means to us personally. We also heard
the most incredible survival story from a man named Barry who now dedicates his
life to helping others who lived through the devastation of super storm
Sandy. Hearing Barry’s story really made
all the pieces come together for me. It
never fails to amaze me how people who seem to have nothing, still have
hope. Hope, the only thing stronger than
fear. Hope was the only thing that many
people in New Jersey had after super storm Sandy. Contrary to popular belief, there is still a
ton of work to be done here, and we are coming up on four years since the storm
hit. Even after four years, hope has
prevailed in the minds and spirits of so many people that we have met this
week, and it is incredibly uplifting and inspiring. God has not let go of these people. He is here, and I am so thankful to be able to
experience his love in this community.
